Food-grade calcium carbonate is often used as a food additive, such as in food processing  aid, an alkalinization agent, a nutritional supplement, a dough regulator, a curing agent, a yeast nourishment, an anti-caking agent, a loosening agent, and a gum sugar additive or modifier.
